Been Over a Week...
Been over a week...
I've been tied up working on a number of projects and haven't been able to give this the attention it deserves. Also with everything going on around Ferguson, I needed some space from links. I'll try and be better about it.
One of the projects is a shined up portfolio. - [bitmasonry.com]
Take a look... feel free to drop my an email with any questions or comments...
With a blog named "bow ties are cool" I couldn't let this weekend go by without comments...
Everything is spoiler protected behind accordions below. Do not click if you don't want to be spoiled. Let me be clear.. I may spoil any and every aired episode of DW starting with An Unearthly Child, ending with Deep Breath including TV, Movies, Big Finish Audios, Comic Books, Novels and Bad Fan Fiction. You click at your own risk. If you decide to complain, I refer you to the Terms and Conditions of this site:
We will tolerate one nasty note and nothing more. You are allowed other actions, legal or otherwise, only if you stand in the middle of the Central Park Zoo naked and scream the words: "I am not insane. I can hear these animals begging to be released." You must do this for one hour or until your arrest.
When Hardwick said : "Let us begin in Traditional Who Fashion... Geronimo!!!!", it brought me back, back to the first time we heard that word, I remember it well, as a child watching the First Doctor in the Dalek Invasion of Earth:
"One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and GERONIMO!!!!"
Who among us doesn't remember the Classic 2nd Doctor catch phrase, "Oh my giddy GERONIMO"?
I could go on but you know them all ... even the closing line of the original run , "There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. GERONIMO "
So here's what I knew getting into this.... The episode was leaked in black and white with crappy special effect all of which would be fixed by production time and there's a Dinosaur in it. An older Doctor? Colorization? Crappy Effects? Dinosaur in London? This is feeling more and more like a Pertwee Episode....
So, I liked it, for what it was. Most regeneration episodes are uneven to me. The Doctor runs around in a haze for the 1st half trying to figure who he is and is out of action, so companions and associates wind up picking up the slack in the story. The Companion (as an extension of the audience) searches for some sign of a previous Doctor.
Capaldi is going to be a real interesting Doctor, I think. We all know he has the acting chops, and again he is "one of us". A Darker Doctor has been promised before (7, 10 who only seemed to be dark at Christmas) but it never came together for whatever reason. I'm hoping we get to see more of that side.
This is the second time The Doctor has forgotten a significant story line (11 forgetting The Great Intelligence, and now 12 forgetting Madame de Pompadour). Yes, you can blame this episode's forgetfulness on post-regeration sickness, but when you add in what happened in "The Snowmen" I have to wonder, is something bigger going on? I know Missy and "Heaven" are the big hook this season but for some reason I find the forgetfulness more interesting.
I loved the scene with Matt, I really didn't see that coming. It really bookended the story well.
Finally Still Not Ginger!
I have to be honest, it was difficult to watch. But I am looking forward to a cooking show with Alton Brown and Strax.

I read this title and thought, "Oh, No, Dog's working for Hydra" - Reality TV star Dog the Bounty Hunter says he's 'coming after' wanted War Machine

Today an acquaintance is flying from the west coast to the east coast for some meetings this week. I was really surprised to find out he was flying during the day today. You see at CA you flew on your time, not the company's. The rule of thumb was you didn't book flights before 8PM and planned on being on the ground and in the office at 9AM. As one manager told me: "We don't pay for your commute, Sean. I don't care if it's 5 miles or 2,500 miles, you commute on your time. You're lucky we pay your airfare." Being dumb and 19, I accepted this as the way things should be. To this day, if you fly for business without putting in your full day's work first, in the back of my head I think you're lazy, trying to get out of work.
PS, I know this has changed at CA and I know how bad my attitude it on this. I also know this is my issue and my beliefs are unrealistic.
I have to be honest, I'm a little on the fence with this. I understand that HTTPS everywhere is a good idea, but there are so many sites like my home page (http://seanreiser.com) which are static and don't require a secure connection at all.
RIP Robin Williams
We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. So medicine, law, business, engineering... these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love... these are what we stay alive for.
